Should I get an attorney?

If you insist on going it without an attorney, if they are offering covers the cost of your bike (unless that is a separate payment), your time off work, travel to and from medical appointments, etc. you can accept a settlement on your own. If this is their first offer I would counter this and add on another $3-4,000 though as they usually low-ball the first offer to clear it up quickly. Please note that in the settlement you sign, you will be releasing them from any further liability so if you have any complications you will be responsible for them yourself.
